Accessibility Statement
Verse vs Verse · Last reviewed October 28, 2026
We want everyone who loves to freestyle to be able to play Verse vs Verse. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the website and the game’s menus, and we keep working toward it.
What we’ve done
- Keyboard: every menu, form and button can be reached with Tab and used with Enter or Space. Enter submits the form you’re in. Escape opens the pause menu and closes dialogs. The game also has keyboard shortcuts, listed in Settings → Controls.
- Screen readers: images have text alternatives, decorative images are hidden from screen readers, and form fields and icon buttons have labels.
- Visible focus: the control you’re on is always outlined.
- Motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, the button ripple effects and character animations stop. The visualizer behind the game can be changed in Settings → Visualizer.
- Readable text: the site and menus scale with your browser’s text size and zoom.
- Sound: music and microphone have their own volume and mute controls, and each player in voice chat can be turned down separately.
Known limitations
Some parts of the game are hard to make fully accessible because of what the game is:
- It’s a rhythm game built around sound and timing: you rap over a beat, landing on prompt words shown in time with it. The words are on screen as text, but following the bouncing ball relies on sight, and the battle relies on hearing and speech.
- Voice chat and recorded battles have no captions or transcripts.
- The audio visualizers and the animated logo are decorative and have no text equivalent; nothing you need is shown only in them.
- Battles run on a timer that can’t be paused or slowed, because every player is in time with the same beat. Solo freestyle lets you practise at your own pace and restart.
